Meals on Wheels/La Popote roulante was founded in 1968 by the Ottawa City Union of The King’s Daughters and Sons as Ottawa’s first Meals on Wheels program.
Meals on Wheels is a bilingual not-for-profit community support service that delivers nutritious hot and frozen meals to seniors and adults with disabilities to assist them in maintaining their health and independence at home. We play a vital role in addressing food security and reducing isolation for the community, as well as offer peace of mind for clients and families.
In addition to providing nutritious meals, this volunteer-based support service allows members of the community to remain in their home as an alternative to costly retirement or nursing residences. Daily visits from Meals on Wheels volunteers provide a caring contact, peace of mind and support to their loved ones and themselves.
