The hot meal program offers an appetizing variety of meals consisting of a soup, a entrée, fresh fruit or salad, and a dessert. Diabetic desserts are available. Our partner kitchens can also accommodate some food allergies.

Delivery Schedule

The hot meals are delivered Mondays to Saturdays, over the noon hour.

Clients can choose which day(s) they want hot meals delivered. Ex. they can have meals delivered Mondays through Saturdays, or select days of the week. There is no minimum requirement – it’s flexible!


Cost of Hot Meals

The cost per meal is $8.40. This includes a soup, an entrée, fresh fruit or salad, and a dessert.

Payment options:
Clients are billed monthly. Payment options include cheques, money orders, e-transfers, VISA or MasterCard. Cash is also accepted at our office. Automatic withdrawals can also be arranged.

How do I order Hot Meals?

NEW CLIENTS: please register with Meals on Wheels before placing an order. Register by calling us at 613-233-2424, or by filling out an online Client Application Form.

Once you have registered with Meals on Wheels, there are two ways to order hot meals:

    Please include your: full name;  address and phone number; which day(s) you would like the hot meals delivered

What if I cannot be home or if I don’t answer the door?

  • Clients may cancel a hot meal without charge by calling before 9:00 a.m. on the day of the delivery. They may make arrangements with the office should they not be available for their regular scheduled delivery due to medical appointments, etc.
  • If a client does not answer their door, volunteers have been instructed to contact the Meals on Wheels office who will try and reach the client by phone. If the client cannot be reached by phone, the meal will be given away and the staff will telephone the designated emergency contact for that client.
  • Volunteers have also been instructed to never leave a meal at a client’s door. If the client is not answering for their meal at the time of delivery, it will be disposed of.

Did you know?

In the Fall of 1968, Island Lodge (now Garry J. Armstrong Centre) offered to provide 24 meals each day and now has the distinction of being the longest serving meal provider.
